Sport Taekwondo
is a combative Olympic sport, characterized by opponent’s aiming
kicks and punches to protected areas of the body to score points.
Sport Taekwondo is said to teach its participants
perseverance, self-discipline, self-confidence and self control.
To compete at the top level of Sport Taekwondo,
such qualities are not enough. Olympic contestants also require
rhythm, timing, proper form and efficient breathing.
Anyone can give themselves the title of
“Coach”.A question you should be asking any prospective
“Coach”is: “How many U.S.A.T. medalists have you
produced?” The United States of
America governing body for Taekwondo is the U.S.A.T., not the A.A.U.
or the U.S.S.S.A. programs. The A.A.U. and U.S.S.S.A. are
excellent programs, however, the U.S.A.T. is considered the premier Taekwondo program
within the United States because they select the
Olympic team members!!!!
Getting advanced Olympic training from an
experienced coach is essential if you or your child want to be
successful in Olympic sparring. When searching for a coach you
want to find a coach who has competed himself or herself and WON at
the national level. The competition experience exposes them to
the true understanding of what is required to compete successfully
in the competitive world of Olympic sparring.
It is important to find a coach who has trained
athletes who WIN at the U.S.A.T. level because a former good
athlete who now calls himself or herself “Coach” does not always make a successful coach.
RESULTS are what a coach
is judged by and a coach with only local/regional tournament
experience does not equal or replace U.S.A.T. competition results or
experience!!!!!
Peak Performance Martial Arts coaches can get
you the training required to compete successfully and safely at the
National or International levels of Olympic sparring.
